Contemporary Sculptures on Display In Austin

Austin, Texas is a fun lively city to visit. It is a diverse city with an eclectic blend of art, music and culture. The Austin Museum of Art features creative contemporary art for visitors year round.

Now through July 22 you can view the finalist and winners of the Texas Prize 2012. This art award recognizes innovative contemporary artists. This years winner Jeff Williams displays unusual art installations that are sculptural.

While you are there your family can also view The Barrett Collection. This collection is a compilation of unique and influential artists from Texas.This{{/tag} helps explain it more.

One of the collections featured artists is modernist sculptor Jim Love. He is known for his found work sculptures. The late artist’s groundbreaking work has been featured at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

I also suggest visiting The Blanton Museum of Art located at The University of Texas. At this time, you can view The Human Touch. A collection of 40 thought-provoking painting and sculptures about the human condition.

There you can also see the breathtaking multi-media sculpture by Paul Villinski titled, Passage. This unique piece of sculpture was made from reclaimed items gathered by the artist from New York City. All of these sculptures are just a small sampling of what art lovers can find in Austin.
